| Discipline |
|
In our adult world, we must follow rules and in
the child's world there must also be rules. Our
discipline policies are as follows: when one of
our children reveals that he cannot handle or
control a situation, the staff will intervene.
We DO NOT spank children. The method used for
disruptive behavior is "TIME OUT". This means
isolating the child from the thing or person in
the classroom or school office. The school tries to work with the child and parents when problems arise. However, the school reserves the right to dismiss any child at any time for continuing major defiance and disregarding school rules. |
| Admissions Policy |
|
REQUIREMENTS FOR CONSIDERATION: To be considered for admission, a child must be between the ages of 2 and 14 years. The ideal age for admission is between the ages of 2 and 2 1/2. Children will be admitted as students at Chenal Valley Montessori School according to the following priorities: Younger children will be accepted before older ones. Four-year old children are admitted before five-year old children. Three-year old children are admitted before four-year old children. This is the first priority and is considered before any others. We will admit a minimum number of five-year old children. The classes will be made up primarily of three and four-year old children with the five-year olds who have grown up in the school. Siblings of children already enrolled will be admitted before a child in a family new to the school. This is the second priority. The school reserves the right to deviate from any of the above priorities in order to achieve a balance of ages and sexes in the classes. PROBATIONARY ADMISSION All children and families admitted are considered to be on probation the first six weeks of class. In the event that a child proves to require more than a fair share of teacher/staff time and attention for any reason, the school reserves the right to dismiss that child. In such cases, a proportionate amount of tuition and fees may be refunded. |
